Woody
Allen & The Theme Of Love Short-lived
[ send
me this paper ]
In this 10 page paper, the writer argues that Woody Allen's films
typically revolve around themes of love; particularly those that
illustrate how this most hopeful emotion fades with time and is not
the ever-lasting blessing that poets claim. Examples from many of
his films are given to support this point. Some of the ones
discussed include : "Naked In New York," "A Midsummer
Night's Sex Comedy," "Love & Death," "Zelig,"
and "Play It Again, Sam." Bibliography lists 11 sources.

“Cool
Hand Luke”
[ send
me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses a number of the sociological aspects of
group interaction and relationships in the 1967 movie “Cool Hand
Luke” starring Paul Newman and George Kennedy, directed by Stuart
Rosenberg. Throughout the movie, the audience understands how an
apparently average man can find himself in the midst of a situation
in which his personal power and control is completely denied. When
that happens, people are drawn to a character through a strange
combination of admiration, envy, and irritation. Even in the first
of circumstances, Luke maintains his cool and finds the humor in the
most difficult of circumstances. The group then defines itself
through its understanding and appreciation of Luke. Bibliography
lists 2 sources.

“Drag”
Performance in the American Theater
[ send
me this paper ]
This 15 page report discusses the history and impact of drag
performances on the American theater. One of the reasons that drag
performance, whether in a drag queen show or in the “legitimate”
theater, titillates, amuses, and shocks people is that it plays with
gender’s most honored and traditional beliefs and celebrates the
confusion of social and sexual identities. Drag is definitely not
found only in the homosexual community, but also in other worlds of
cross-dressing: straight men dressing in drag for personal thrills
and people in the performing arts donning drag as part of a show. In
the a dramatic performance, cross-dressing establishes a realm that
differs from daily preconceptions of life -- just as drama itself
does. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

“I
Was a Teenage Werewolf” (1957)
[ send
me this paper ]
This 6 page report discusses the 1957 movie “I Was a Teenage
Werewolf” directed by Gene Fowler, Jr., produced by Samuel Z.
Arkoff, and starring the actor who went on to become “Little
Joe,” “Pa Ingalls” and “Jonathon Smith,” Michael Landon.
It seems that in 1957, the idea of a teenage boy turning into a
monster at the hands of an evil doctor was as far as American
imagination could stretch. In a number of ways, the movie was a
comedy, a horror film, a teenage angst movie, and even something of
a social commentary. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

“Jailhouse
Rock” and Elvis Presley
[ send
me this paper ]
This 6 page report discusses Elvis Presley’s 1957 movie
“Jailhouse Rock.” It should be noted that his movies were not
all bad. “Viva Las Vegas” (1964) and “Jailhouse Rock” (1957)
are two that showcase Presley at his musical best. While the movie,
Elvis’ third of 33, is discussed so are the political and cultural
aspects of the backdrop of the 1950s. Elvis, like him or not, was a
major entertainment phenomenon and, in fact, still is. Bibliography
lists 7 sources.
